Any important design or text should be 1/8 from the edge of the business card.
Bleed
Images that go to the edge should have "bleed". Artwork should look like below image.
Bleeds, or when the background or image reaches the edges of the card should have 1/8" extra background or image.
1/8 safe area, the safe area of a business card template is the area within the card where important design elements, like text and logos, should be placed. The safe area is intended to prevent important design elements from being cut off during printing.
